Steampunk fans will love Hot Nudge, a 5×4, 20-payline slot by NoLimit City.

The grid is set in the middle of an engine-like construction with shifting gears and whirring cogs that periodically emits puffs of steam.

The paytable starts with elaborately constructed steampunk-style card suits, clubs, diamonds, spades and hearts.

The clubs and diamonds both award 0.15x, 0.4x and 1x the bet for combinations of 3, 4, or 5 on one of the 40 paylines, starting from the leftmost reel. 

Spades and hearts pay 0.2x, 0.5x, and 1.25x the bet for the same. 

The premiums are designed as playing cards and feature three characters, Jack of Punk, Queen of Steam, and King of Diesel. These symbols are all 4 positions high and can land partly or fully stacked on the reels, which is an important point as you’ll see when we get to the features.

Jack of Punk pays out 0.3x, 0.75x, and 2.50x the bet for winning combos. The very steamy Queen of Steam awards 0.35x, 1x and 3.75x and the King of Diesel bestows 0.4x, 1.25x, and 5x the bet.

The Hot Wild, a female mechanic all dressed to get down and dirty (fixing cars, obviously) can also appear to help form line wins by substituting for regular symbols. She also lands stacked, meaning appearing on several positions on the reels, not well-endowed, and can award some hefty multipliers.

And last but not least, a yellow warning sign acts as the scatter. It doesn’t award payouts, but three will trigger the free spins round. 

Game Features

As this is a NoLimit City game, there is nothing usual about the bonuses. Here the clue to what to expect lies in the name. The main action from this game comes in the form of nudging symbols, with the Hot Wild, King of Diesel, Queen of Steam and Jack of Punk all taking over complete reels under the right circumstances. 

If the Hot Wild lands even partly on the reel and helps form a win, she’ll nudge up a position at a time to fill the whole reel. Not only that, but each nudge will increase the wild multiplier up to a maximum of x10, and this is applied to all wins the wild helps form. The level of the wild multiplier can be seen in the box at the top right-hand corner of the grid. This resets after the spin the nudges end. 

If all positions on the first two reels are filled by either the King of Diesel, Queen of Steam or Jack of Punk any other instances of these symbols on the grid will also nudge to fill their entire reels. 

The Hot Scatter symbol, a yellow warning sign, is the only symbol apart from the low-pays that cannot nudge to fill its reel, in the base game at least. And it can only land on reels 2, 3, and 4 but if three hit on one spin, the player is awarded with an initial seven free spins. 

During the bonus round, the gameplay is pretty much the same as in the base game, but with one important difference. Any time a scatter lands during the free spins, it will nudge down one position at a time on the following spins. This extends the free spins round by adding one more free spin to the remaining total with each nudge. Thanks to this feature, the round can continue indefinitely, theoretically at least.
