How to Connect MetaMask on Polygon – A Full Guide

If you are one of the new users of the MetaMask wallet, you will maybe be surprised to hear that you can connect it with tons of other blockchain networks, not just Ethereum – the default one.

You can use MetaMask on most dapps and decentralized exchanges, one of which is the Polygon network. Polygon has gained a lot of popularity and traction among users due to the fact it allows users to make transactions with much lower fees.

Polygon was formerly known as Matic, and it is still the name of the native token of the network. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the steps you need to follow to connect MetaMask to Polygon.

Now that you have successfully set up your MetaMask wallet, it is time to add the Polygon network to it. To do that, there is a simple process you need to complete. Check out the following steps:

Send tokens to MATIC Network

Once you have set up Polygon to your MetaMask wallet, it is time to transfer some tokens to your new Matic network.

First things first, you need to set up your Polygon wallet for that, for which you can connect your pre-existing MetaMask wallet, so it shouldn’t take more than a minute to complete.

Then, the wallet is all set up, so the following options will appear:

• Polygon Wallet
• Polygon Bridge
• Polygon Staking
• Widget Dashboard

We assume that you would have ETH assets by now, so to transfer those to Polygon, you will need to click on the Polygon Bridge option. Once you do so, click on ETH from the drop-down list and enter the number of tokens you want to transfer.

You are all set now, but note that there are some transaction fees that apply for transferring the tokens.

Users can also receive Matic tokens from other Polygon users for which you will need to choose the Assets on Polygon function and click on Receive.
