Design & Theme

It won’t take a genius to figure out that Goldbeard is a game about pirates and treasure. It’s an excellent theme as it delivers a healthy dose of nostalgia, rolling back the years for many who are at the controls hitting spin. The theme and what RTG aim to achieve comes through thanks to the design, which is cartoony and colourful.

The game’s surround is of an island flanked by palm trees and features a treasure chest while being sandy underfoot. You get the same sort of feel on the reels, with treasure chests, cannons, gold coins, and more all appearing as icons. Everything blends well, and that’s a plus for us.

Bonus Features

It’s the standard approach by RTG when it comes to the features in Goldbeard – wild, scatter and free spins. Goldbeard is the wild to watch out for, appearing on reels one and five. Will it substitute for the scatter? No. But it will replace other regular icons.

Coins are the Scatter, but they will not get a punter the free spins they are looking for when spinning the reels for the first time in forever. Instead, it’s the wild icon appearing on reels 1 and 5 that will trigger the bonus round, and the spins are re-triggerable, too.
